It’s that time of year when the flu starts making its rounds. Don’t be left with a weak immune system because of poor nutrition!! We all have heard to eat (or drink) our vitamin C for a strong immune system, but there are other nutrients that help build up the immune system like selenium, zinc, probiotics, and vitamin E. These nutrients can be found in:

  • Almonds
  • Sunflower seeds
  • Brazil nuts
  • Cashews
  • Broccoli
  • Yogurt

Foods containing vitamin C include:

  • Citrus fruits
  • Red bell pepper
  • Spinach
  • Kiwi
  • Papaya
  • Cranberries

This winter I’m going to try to help my immune system out with this simple recipe for a tasty trail mix!

Quick and Easy Trail Mix


  • 1/2 cup roasted almonds
  • 1/2 cup craisins
  • 1/2 cup sunflower seeds
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup roasted cashews

Directions:1. Mix all ingredients together and enjoy!!!
